KOLKATA: Hidco will prepare a new land use, development and control plan (LUDCP) for its entire 30sqkm area in New Town, which includes parts of 20 mouzas of North 24 Parganas and four mouzas of South 24 Parganas. A search is on to select a consulting agency for the job.

The land use, development and control plan will be prepared as per the provisions of sections of 31, 32 and 34 of the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning & Development) Act, 1979. There will be a separate land-use plan for the proposed IT hub, which has been planned to be set up on 100 acres.

“With a number of new projects coming up, like the Metro alignment, flyovers, IT zones and cultural institiutes, in the core area, there is a need to have a fresh LUDCP for planned development,” said a senior official of the Housing InfrastructureDevelopment Corporation (Hidco).

The new map will specifically identify and mention the areas earmarked as green open space, waterbodies, central business district, residential areas, educational, cultural, sports zones and will also mention in detail the specific areas for housing, shopping areas, industrial areas, educational and cultural institutions.

The land use plan may also indicate and define areas reserved for agriculture and other schemes like energy, water and waste conservation, solar energy utilization in public places, rainwater harvesting and waste recycling .

The land use, development and control plan will be submitted within two and a half months from the date of starting work and the final LUDCP is to be submitted within 15 days of Hidco’s approval.
